In exactly one week, it will be Christmas Eve.
This final stretch before Christmas carries a different kind of weight.
Not the kind that can be solved with lists or plans but the kind that asks to be held.
This year, one of the quiet gifts Christ gave me and helped me recognize was comfort.
Not comfort as ease or escape but the kind the apostle Paul describes in Romans 1:12:
“That is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”
Comfort that comes through shared faith.
Strength that steadies simply because it is not carried alone.
I experienced this through a friendship from my youth; one that faded with time and, unexpectedly, found its way back nearly 40 years later. What returned wasn’t just familiarity, but reassurance: we were still sisters in Christ, still aligned with what matters most.
It reminded me of something essential this season often forgets:
Comfort doesn’t always come by removing the weight.
Sometimes it comes by meeting it together.
As Christmas approaches, many women are carrying joy and grief side by side. Gratitude and longing. Connection and absence. That doesn’t mean you’re doing the season wrong. It means you’re human…and deeply capable of receiving comfort.
From a mind–body perspective, this kind of comfort matters more than we realize. Safe connection increases oxytocin–the primary regulator of calm for the female nervous system. When faith is shared and encouragement is mutual, the body receives a signal it has been waiting for:
You are not alone. You are safe enough to soften.
Here’s a simple mind+body+spirit pause for this final week before Christmas, centered not on fixing, but on receiving:
Mind
“I am willing to receive comfort.”
Body
Place one hand over your heart and imagine being gently supported by someone who knows you, sees you, and shares your faith. Let your shoulders soften for a few moments.
Spirit
“God, thank You for the comfort You give through connection. Help me receive it.”
If this season feels tender, let that tenderness be an invitation, not to do more, but to allow comfort to find you.
May you feel steadied in these final days before Christmas by faith shared, love remembered, and the quiet nearness of Christ.
