The funeral service for Charlie Kirk was a powerful reminder of the strength and hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Erika’s tribute was stunning. She publicly forgave the assassin just 11 days after the tragedy.
That kind of grace can only come from a deep, abiding relationship with Christ. Forgiveness does not erase consequences. Taking someone’s life because you disagree is evil. Forgiveness is letting go of resentment and frees the heart of the one who forgives, anchoring them in God’s peace. (see Ephesians 4:31-32)
A Mirror to Yourself
I want to offer a mirror to yourself: notice what rises inside you when you hear or read something you strongly disagree with.
Do you feel:
- Anger, fear, or judgment?
- The urge to lash out or withdraw?
- Resentment or replaying the situation in your mind?
These feelings reveal hidden patterns in your mind, body, or spirit–places that carry tension or fear and keep you stuck.
Mind → Body → Spirit Reset
Inspired by my 3 Hidden Patterns: What’s Holding You Back? guide, here’s how to step out of reactivity and reclaim peace:
Mind: Pause and notice the emotions inside you–anger, fear, judgment–without judging yourself. Awareness is the first step.
Body: Ground yourself physically. Feel your feet on the floor, place your hands on your heart, and take a few deep breaths. Let your body know it’s safe to move forward.
Spirit: Invite God into the moment. Ask:
“What am I learning about myself? What am I learning about God?
Surrender the tension and let His guidance shape your next steps.
This approach helps you respond from faith, not fear—just like the resets in the 3 Hidden Patterns Guide.
Forgiveness, grace, and perspective all start inside you. The next time you feel triggered, pause, notice, and let Christ guide your response.
With faith,
